Finally, a bookclub, MY bookclub.

I had always wanted to start my own book club, just that little contribution in giving back to the literary world that has given me quite so much, and what other better way is there than to share with friends whilst having fun..

So, here’s what we do..

ECLECTIC LADIES BOOK CLUB—Lagos.

We are a group of book-loving young females, whose enthusiasm for learning, earning and giving has resulted in an aim to connect with each other, while engaging in thought provoking discussions, in relation to our individual worlds– through books. This group of aesthetes also intend in giving back in our own little way to the society by encouraging the reading culture amongst youth.
WHAT WE DO?
Members of the book club meet together once, every month, for a book talk on a book earlier selected by the group. The book already read by the members of the group will be discussed judging by our different perception and opinion. This meeting will be scheduled to be held at locations like restaurants, cafés, libraries, schools, bookstores, a member’s home e.t.c.
We are interested in discussing books of different genres spanning fiction and non-fiction, ranging from African books, to Nigeria authors, bestselling authors and the likes. Members will be fully engaged in selection of books for each month.
Our meetings will also be extended to non-members to accommodate interested individuals hence there will be a proper publicity for interested members, and awareness to reach our target audience as well, in authors, writers, publishers, and other book-interested individuals or body.
The book club starts next year in January.
AIM OF THE BOOK GROUP
1 To further reiterate the members involvement in the reading process and also help utilize books to its best potential.
2 Create a supportive environment amongst members in promoting personal relationships, careers, and good interaction amongst the female folks.
3 To support members and non-members with literary ambition E.G writers, poets, publishers e.t.c through involvement with literary events.
4 Promoting Nigerian authors and writers, new and old will be a major feature of the book group.
5 The book will subsequently host literary events in schools to promote reading culture and will partner with interested cooperate organizations, publishing houses, NGO’S e.t.c in helping to imbibe the reading culture amongst children in this part of our world.
6 Fundraising events and charitable deeds will carried out when due by the book group members.

OUR BOOKCLUB IS BETTER THAN YOURS. HERE’S WHY?
Book discussions isn’t all we are interested in at the “ECLECTIC LADIES BOOK CLUB”, it isn’t just a book club.

Our book club can drink more than your book club.
Our book club certainly eats better than yours.
Our ladies after-book-club hangout sessions are usually explosive.
Do you have top women in their different fields of work come to your book club meetings? No. But we do at ours!
Our book discussions at our meetings are always on youtube! Yes! We are on youtube.
At our book club, giving back to the society in our own little way is priority , hence our fund raising events for charity and all things literal are fun and engaging!

HOW TO JOIN?
Not much is actually required to be a part of the group. An interest in reading, or the willingness as the case might be, maybe a wee bit of commitment too to help in co-operation, and that’s about it.
Though it will be required that you purchase your books, attend meetings, and participate in the meetings with your discussion points and the group generally, because we would love to hear your voice.
Send an email to ELBClagos@gmail.com password- eclecticladies to inform us if you want to be a member, or tweet at us as well.

THE MEETINGS
An hour minimum of book talk/discussion is certain, and the rest is as spontaneous as it gets.
Members are expected to read the books, sample out excerpts from the book that interests them and also create discussion points as it suits them to support good conversations.
Meetings location will be shared to the group members and the public through mails, social media and every other means possible. Open to several other arrangements.
Ohh. Did I mention there would be funding from the members for these arrangements too ? oops. Yes, very pocket friendly, trust me. We take donations not only in cash too.

Moody Monday Playlist.

Moody Monday Playlist
I’m not sad,just disheveled,but I do feel quite grim.
Got to work feeling quite lead-hearted and before you start thinking its the i-hate-my-job-syndrome,been feeling this way since sunday,I guess. Maybe saying lead-hearted is an exageration, but I don’t know what else to call it as I actually can feel a pressured-heart waiting to be eased right in the middle of my chest. It carries such weight than it usually should.I’m not sad, just unhappy with me.
Its one of those mornings I feel clueless, and struggling to keep my mind from leaving me totally, lest I lose focus, turn off every sense of responsibility I owe myself, only to reprimand myself way overly when its turned back on.
“I’m not matching-up with my responsiblities like I ought to”
Its the best summary I can give without going into a turmoil and confusing you.
If you don’t understand,I’m not sure I wanted you too, though would have loved if you did,but you probably might understand this playlist, maybe get a new song or two..
